What happens when you plan a surprise but you end up the one being surprised? Expect the unexpected!
Jeremy Cooney, a staff Sergeant from Marine Corps, was thrilled to come home to his family and surprise them. But it turns out that Jeremy is up for an even bigger surprise from his wife and three children.
Jeremy arrived in a gym at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune and his family greeted him with delight. Jeremy however was shocked to see that his 6 year old son slowly walks toward him! A wonderful homecoming after a tough deployment!
This was definitely a big miracle for him to witness since his son, Michael Cooney was born with cerebral palsy, a disorder which affects his physical and mental ability. What an overwhelming way to be welcomed home for sure!
“When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone,” his wife, Melissa said.
In the video, it’s shown in Jeremy’s eyes the joy and excitement to see his son beat the odds. Despite his condition, Michael is fueled up with determination to use his feet and keep moving towards his beloved dad.
The family shared a sweet and tight hug with each other. Truly a heartwarming reunion!
Nothing beats the comforts of being with your family and celebrate every victory. Don’t wait for something bad to happen for you to appreciate your loved ones.
