So much wisdom is revealed in a little poem here by Wanda B. Goines. She is 92 years old and shares insights about her life that most of us can relate to. The poem titled “The Gift-Wrap & The Jewel”, in shares tender thoughts about aging and what’s important in life.
One of the greatest fears we have is the fear of getting old. Not only are there aches and pains as our bodies age, but also, and this is the big one, we fear that the wrinkling, sagging and hair loss make us unappealing, even unacceptable.
Wanda cleverly identifies these deficiencies and then goes on to provide a genuine, heartfelt alternative understanding that will bring a tear to your eye.
Having been fortunate enough to be the first one to read the poem, Her caretaker, Kathryn Clausnitzer Wilson, knew that it was truly special. She was moved. And fortunately for us, she wanted to make sure that an audience on the Internet would be able to find joy and comfort in the special message it gives.
So she set up the camera in Wanda’s room. Then, Kathryn asked her to recite her poem. The ensuing video message is short, but by the time you reach the end, you will understand why Kathryn wanted to share it and why we think it is truly worth 79 seconds of your time.
Wanda’s words are sincere, beautiful, meaningful, comforting and truly inspiring. No doubt the wisdom and thoughtfulness of this gentle woman will touch you. Grab a tissue (you will need it) and enjoy. Then, remember to share her poem with everyone you know!
